Nagoya Castle's Symbol on its roof |
For budget travelers or backpackers, the expense for accommodations is what you would like to cut. Staying in hostels is a good option. Even for those who want to stay in hotels, not hostels, it is a good change to stay in a cozy hostel just one night because you can meet up and exchange travel information with fellow travelers.
Here are 5 top hostels Tune In Nagoya recommends in Nagoya:
1) Hostel Wasabi Ekimae2) グローカル名古屋バックパッカーズホステル
3) Nagoya Traveller's Hostel
3) なごのや
4) ゲストハウス 300 HOSTEL 大須観音
5)ゲストハウスMADO
1)Hostel Wasabi Ekimae 2)Glocal-Backpackers Hostel
The first two hostels (No. 1 and 2)are easy access from Nagoya Station. When you travel by JR Railways, this is THE major train stop at Nagoya. Even if you fly into Nagoya directly from your country, you would probably come up to Nagoya Station. So, being very close to Nagoya Station is a huge advantage. To reach these two hostels, you take Nagoya Station West Exit (Shinkansen, Bullet train in English, Exit). These hotels are located within 5 to 10 minutes from the West Exit. Pretty convenient.
3) Nagoya Traveller's Hostel
It is located near Sakae Subway Station, which is less than 10-minute subway ride from Nagoya Station. The Hostel is really cozy (See the following pictures). If you do not mind taking a subway from Nagoya Station, we would recommend this Hostel. Another merit of this hotel is the location: Sakae, which is one of the most popular spots in Nagoya. Oasis 21 in Sakae, is one of the popular shopping spots and has a distinct feature of "Water Spaceship," which is an oval-shaped futuristic structure with thin layer of water floating on its glass roof top. Oasis 21 attracts a lot of Japanese and international tourists, epically at night when it is lit up. Some interesting events, such as World Cosplay Summit Nagoya, are held there!!Front Desk |

4) Nagonoya
It is not so far from Nagoya Station. You can walk from there to the hostel for 10 to 15 minutes. You have to take Nagoya Station East Exit. It is near Nagoya International Center. You could take a subway for one stop. However, we would recommend you walk because the subway line (Sakura Dori Line) is two stories down from the ground, which means, you should not take any trouble getting on and off the subway, for just 10 minutes walk or so in our opinion.5) 300 Hostel
This hostel is not near Nagoya Station. From Nagoya Station, you have to take subway for about 10 to 15 minutes of two lines (Higashiyama Line and Tsurumai Line). At Fushimi of Higashiyama Lines, you can change into Tsurumai Line, and get off at Osukannon Station. Though the location is a little far from ideal, you can buy good gifts at Osukannon Shopping Arcade. Used Kimono, nice tapestries, some Kimono fabric purses, and others, you may be able to find something uniquely Japanese. This should be fun, definitely!!6) Guest House Mado
This hostel is pretty unique in that they provide Japanese style Futon (mattress on the floor). If you want to try a Japanese sleeping style, this is right for you. The location is not so easily accessed, but the town in which this hotel is located is famous for Shibori, which is a technique for dying fabric by binding and twisting the fabric. Unique patterns are famous for towels and summer kimonos (Yukata in Japanese). Please enjoy staying in best hostels introduced here and exchanging good travel info with your fellows.
