3 flourishing neighborhoods in Brooklyn: Bedford Stuyvesant, Bushwick, and Prospect Heights

Brooklyn has been getting very popular not just as a trendy place to live, but also as a place to provide inspirations for domestic and international travelers and artists.

1) Williamsburg

Williamsburg is a hip neighborhood in Brooklyn, which attracts young and "mature" hipsters with trendy cafes, brunch places, and restaurants/bars.  It could be said to be a hub of Brooklyn.

As shown in the map, from Manhattan (specifically at Canal Street station near Greenwich Village), cross over East River by taking the subway L, M, or Z, and get off at Marcy Av station.

Three other neighborhoods, Bedford Stuyvesant (located immediately southof Williamsburg), and Bushwick (immediately south-east o f Williamsburg) have also been taking the trendy lead along with Willilamsburg.  Prospect Heights (immediately south-west of Bedford Stuyvesant) is also flourishing and attracting a lot of visitors and potential residents.

We would like to focus these three neighborhoods, hoping that domestic and international tourists will get inspired to visit them in person and spread the word about their beauty and worthiness.

2) Bedford Stuyvesant

From Lower Manhattan (specifically at Fulton station near Wall Street), take the subway  A or C and get off at Kingston-Throop Avs station.  You will see a lot of beautiful brownstones (3 to 4 story houses made of brown stones), which feature Brooklyn architectures.  Other areas in Brooklyn, such as Park Slope and Sunset Park, are also famous for these brownstones, but we would strongly recommend Bedford Stuyvesant.  Fortunately or unfortunately, due to gentrification, this neighbourhood has been getting more and more attention and become safer to explore.  Here are some pictures of these beautiful houses and one particular restaurant where you can enjoy southern food and drinks.

The following two pictures show what the area near Kingston-Throop Avs station looks like.

The next two pictures were taken for the very popular restaurant called Peaches HotHouse and the last pictures are two of their specialties.

3) Bushwick

From 14th Union Square station, take the subway  L and get off at Jefferson St station.  You will see a lot of beautiful murals (artwork painted on the wall) in this neighborhood.  Bushwick Collective, which was started by a Bushwick native named Joseph Ficalora in 2011, has been promoting aspiring artists to come and show their art works on the walls of Bushwick.  This art movement has been expanding and attracting a lot of  artists and art-lovers.

In the pictures provided in the link and this post, you can see the signature of Bushwick Collective, along with instagram accounts of the artists.  You can check them out about the backgrounds of their works.  When you zoom in and carefully read their words, you can have a better understanding of their messages.  This post also shows some ads to protest against Bushwick Collective.  Some ads, such as for beer companies,  are more radical in their protest by being intentionally placed over the murals.  You can be on Bushwick Street Art Tours to explore more.

Ads for Whiskey (Bulleit Bourbon) are placed over the murals

This is also artistic, but just an ad for AT & T, a telephone company

Here is one of the best restaurants/bars, named The Rookery Bar.  After or Before the walking tour, whether official or self-guided, you should try their food and drinks.

This mural at their entrance welcomes you!

Stools at the bar, booths, and tables are available

4) Prospects Heights

From Lower Manhattan (specifically at Fulton station near Wall Street), take the subway  A or C and get off at Clinton-Washington Av station.  Less than 10-minute's walk takes you to Atlantic Ave, across from which Prospects Heights starts to the south.  You will see Barclays Center (shown in the picture below) where  Atlantic Ave. merges into Flatbush Ave.  Barclays Center is the home to the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA (i.e., National Basketball Association).  Vanderbilt Ave. surely provides dining/drinking options as well (shown in the pictures below).
